I'm Alp, Network/Azure Cloud Engineer & Manager, with a love for building infrastructure. I've designed, engineered and implemented many campus network infrastructure, and as the technological landscape changes, so to must I evolve alongside it, as we soar through the cloud and beyond. I built this website as a reflection of my personal growth, technical skills, and insatiable curiosity.
The goal of this website was to follow all the goals as listed in the Cloud Resume Challenge. I wanted not just accomplish the bare minimum, but also take into consideration best practices, scalability, and reliability. I built out 2 separate github containers; one for the frontend, and one for the backend. Taking cost into consideration, I opted for an Azure Static Web Storage. Not to be confused with Azure Static Web App, this allowed me to build out the CDN, SSL, and all the other bells and whistles myself. This allowed me to understand how each individual service interacts with one another instead of a one-stop-shop. The backend is a serverless, consumption-based pricing model that typically utilizes Azure Functions. All coding was done in VS Code with extensions. The API was built out in javascript, with messages being retrieved from a Queue Storage instead of sending them directly to the CosmosDB solution to avoid the SQL database having direct exposure. All the connection strings were then encrypted in Azure Key Vault. It was a great experience, and I want to make future additions, such as IaC with bicep deployment and better unit testing.
